Voice for inclusion (Sida project)
Intact Special School (ISS)
Intact Special School supports 50 children with intellectual and multiple disabilities. We provide individualized education and different therapies to improve their physical, communication, and life skills. Our goal is to help children live independently with dignity.
Therapies Provided:
15 children receive Physiotherapy
31 children receive Sensory Integration Therapy
30 children participate in Hippotherapy
14 children undergo Speech Therapy
28 children benefit from Hydrotherapy
40 children receive Occupational Therapy
These services improve mobility, communication, sensory balance, and emotional well-being.
Horse Riding Therapy Project
Horse riding therapy is very useful for the children with disabilities; 30 children benefitted through horse riding therapy sessions in the year 2025. Horse riding therapy session started in January 2025 for the first batch and second batch started in July 2025. First evaluation conducted in June, it shows positive results through horse riding therapy.
This year 17 children received horseback riding therapy, 13 children involved in various activities during the therapy sessions like walking with horses, grooming horses, cleaning the hoofs and assisting in horse caring. Through the horse riding therapy sessions, sensory & motor functions like range of motion, muscle power, gait pattern, postures improved well. Behaviour problems & hyper activity reduced and attention improved which help them to do their ADLS (Activities of Daily Living Skills) independently. And for this year 2026 20 children are getting hippo therapy. 13 (5 girls and 8 boys) children are involved in Riding therapy session and 7 (3 girls and 4 boys) are in grooming sessions
Sports Achievements
Our students participated in the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Trophy for Differently Abled Athletes and won prizes.

Family Reunion
Lakshmi (Latha Maheshwari) was reunited with her family on 12 June 2025 with the support of the District Differently Abled Welfare Office (DDAWO). It was a joyful moment for everyone.
Tailoring Unit Inauguration
On 24 April 2025, a Tailoring Unit with 10 sewing machines, 5 embroideries and 5 overlock machines was started for the vocational training of intellectually disabled young women. It was supported by the Tamil Nadu Government and inaugurated by Mr. Arul, Revenue Divisional Officer, Trichy Division. This unit helps young women gain skills and become financially independent.
Opportunity Campus – Adult Boys Home
The Opportunity Campus provides agricultural and life skills training to young men.
Training includes:

COFS for horses at HRTC
Sheep Rearing:
Sheep rearing training is designed to build basic livelihood skills among intellectually disabled adult boys by teaching simple, hands-on animal care activities. The training focuses on feeding, cleaning, and maintaining sheep in a safe and guided environment. Participants learn routine care practices to promote animal health and hygiene. All grown sheep were successfully sold. This program supports skill development and income generation.
Placement:
Mr. Gokulakannan secured a job at D&B Foods after completing packing training.
Intact Matriculation School, Vellimalai
Intact Matriculation school, offering education from Kindergarten to Grade 5 this year. Currently, the school serves 105 children (56 boys and 49 girls).
The school offers both academic and extracurricular activities for holistic development.
Collaboration with Aram Porul Trust
A programme was conducted in collaboration with Aram Porul Trust, which works from Karumanthurai in Kalvarayan Hills for the development of education, health, and livelihood opportunities for the community. With the initiative of one of our sponsored children Miss. Anitha who is working in this organisation, the two organisations are jointly launching welfare activities in the mountains.
Various activities were conducted to encourage active participation, creativity, and interest in learning. The initiative aims to support the overall development of children and promote meaningful and enjoyable education. Here is a picture from one Girls Camp conducted from 27th December till 30th December, 2025.
Supplementary Education Programme

Sponsorship program for ISS
Our sponsors play a vital role in transforming the lives of children with intellectual disabilities. Through their generous support, children receive access to special education, therapies, nutritious meals, uniforms, learning materials, and essential care. We thank our sponsors for their compassion, commitment, and continued partnership in building brighter futures for our children. 17 children at ISS are supported by generous sponsors.
Dr. Reuben’s Sponsorship for tribal children’s Education
During this academic year 2025 – 2026 onwards, 20 children (10 boys and 10 girls) benefitting from your sponsorship support which help them to continue their education. They are studying well in Intact Matriculation School in Vellimalai, Kalrayan Hills. The support meets their school fees, educational equipment, school uniform dresses, school bags, shoes, etc.
RB Sponsorship Support for Girls’ Education
During the reporting year 2025–2026, 40 girls are benefiting from the sponsorship programme. The initiative aims to support the education and overall development of girls from economically and socially vulnerable families. As part of the programme, notebooks and educational materials were distributed in May 2025 to help students continue their learning without interruption. Field workers regularly visit the sponsored children and their families to monitor educational progress, provide guidance, and understand their needs. The beneficiaries are from the villages of Thal Sathanur, Mel Sathanur, Thoranamkatti Valavu, and Thal Mozhipattu.
This sponsorship programme helps improve school attendance, academic performance, and confidence among girls, enabling them to pursue their education with greater motivation and hope for the future.
Girls Education Project (General Sponsorship)
The Girls Education Project for the academic year June 2025 to April 2026 supports the education of 162 girl children. Learning materials, equipments, residential allowance and transportation is included in the support. Field worker regularly visit the sponsored children and their families to monitor academic progress, provide guidance, and update educational records. These visits help strengthen communication between the project team, students, and parents.
Medical Camps – Kalvarayan Hills
In collaboration with The Leprosy Mission Hospital (TLM), Vadathorasalur, medical camps are conducted every month for tribal communities.
In 2025: 27 tribal villages covered and 1 073 people benefited
Services provided:
Health check-ups, Medicines as prescribed, Iron & folic acid supplements, Awareness on hygiene and nutrition, Guidance on avoiding tobacco and self-medication and referral services to the nearest hospitals whenever needed.
SIDA Project – Voice for Inclusion
The civil society-based project launched in Tamilnadu through Forum Civ, Sweden was successfully completed in August 2025. Based on the experience, a new project titled “Voice for Inclusion: Empowering Persons with Intellectual Disabilities in Tamil Nadu” was launched on 2 January 2026. This project is directly granted by SIDA through Intacts Vanner which promotes inclusion, rights, and empowering persons with disabilities. A joint leadership system is introduced in this project cycle to implement this project from 2026 till 2028.
Fund Raising Initiatives
As we are aware due to the pandemic which followed with geo-political events raising funds is becoming very challenging, both in Sweden and Switzerland. But the activities of Intact India stay almost the same.
We are discussing & focussing on continued basis in cost cutting and fund raising initiatives. Non-core activities will be reduced progressively. A fund raising team has been formed with the defined targets. The members are
